Planting Seeds even in Disagreements

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by MARSHA BURNS

Watch for the challenges that come through encounters with people who lack spiritual understanding and refuse to hear. Yours is to only speak the truth as a seed planted and release them to Me, says the Lord. Resist the temptation to try to force them to “get it”. Flesh cannot perceive the Spirit. Don’t allow frustration to be the outcome of such an encounter; speak what I give you and move on without regret.

John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

I thought this was fitting for today. There are several times when I am going to say something that people will not agree with. I would like to think I am always right, but unfortunately that is not always the case. When I get in a discussion and there is an impasse in thoughts, I pray for what to say and also to be open to the truth if I am in deed in the wrong. I don’t want to be stiff necked and unwilling to learn.

This has been my approach for awhile now. I used to love to argue, but after awhile, the only thing that comes from it is exhaustion and hurt feelings. You have to know when to say enough is enough and be able to walk away. At least I know I am in agreement with God on that.

Good point. I think the point of discussion is to flesh out an idea in many new angles and ways of viewing the idea at hand. This is what I enjoy about discussing issues of scripture or even about God. I find I wont agree with everyone – but I do find I can learn about various viewpoints and become more understanding in life. We’ll never always be right – but that’s not important anyways.
