Terminology – Solas

There are 5 Solas that are used to represent the Reformed Theology. This is true reformed theology and not Calvinist controlled reformed theology. The five solas summarized basic reformed theology that contrasted it with the Roman Catholic Church.

Sola Fide – Faith Alone – man is justified or made right before God through faith alone. Good works are a sign of justification, but can not yield or contribute to justification

Sola Scriptura – Scripture Alone – the belief that the Bible is the only inspired and authoritative Word of God and is available to all.

Solus Christus – Christ Alone – Jesus is the only mediator between God and man. No one else can bring salvation to anyone.

Sola Gratia – Grace Alone – Salvation comes by grace alone. No good work or merit can be applied in an attempt to earn salvation.

Soli Del Gloria – Glory to God Alone – All glory is due to God as He not only provided the atonement on the Cross but also provided the faith needed for salvation.
